Re-mastered some old videos + other RAW episodes

I’ve been going through some old Gaki videos and been remastering a few of them, mostly for my private collection but thought I’d share it with other interested individuals/collectors. It’s a lot cleaner and most of the effort has gone into color correction. You can compare the older version and this if you’d like to see the differences, I’m actually quite curious about your opinion.

[i:cxmr66hl][b:cxmr66hl]To appease your curiosity, I use Avidemux to re-master and encode all my videos.[/b:cxmr66hl][/i:cxmr66hl]

[i:cxmr66hl]I’'ll be remastering couple of other old videos while I’ve got some free time, I’ll upload it and update this post when done.[/i:cxmr66hl]

Woah, this is great!

How did you do it? I tried playing with different encoders a while back to "fix" old GnT rips but I gave up, seeing no improvements.

I used to do a lot of photoshop image edits (trial and error) and also was involved with manga scanlations few years back and applied the same knowledge into video editing with color correction and some other filters. I pretty much use avidemux for all my ‘light’ editing and encoding, it’s got a filter called ‘MPlayer eq2 under’ ‘Color’ which allows me to adjust Contrast/Brightness/Saturation and most importantly, Gamma. I play around until I get a satisfying aesthetic and also apply a little sharpening in the end if needed, to bring out some details hidden behind the blur, encode the final product in x264 MP4 for cross compatibility across various devices and web. I’ve tried other video editing software like After Effects and Premier but those don’t quite bring out results like avidemux and it takes forever to encode with them.

Now I’m playing the "Tag Onigoko Batsu Game", side by side with your re-encoding file, and it looks pretty good. You can appreciate more vivid colors, more detail and more depth in the frames. Really good work pal. Thank you for sharing this

The episodes look better than the original videos!

Just one question, what do you use to re-master the videos?

Dude!! Just read up!! He explain all the thing!! You may wanna read the post before posting things…so you don’t make a fool of yourself

Here’s a seek-peek of something I just finished, it’s from the absolutely tasty series, I noticed the subbed video was rather quite dark so I reworked it and here’s a before and after shot:

EDIT: Some issue with audio and video sync so I’m putting this one for hold for a while. In the mean time, I’m working on a few other ones that will be up in two days.
