Go about 5:46 into video one and watch, both Downtowners are so funny but just wondering what Anime characters are they supposed to impersonate?

Hakushon Daimao seems to be what the caption on the insert says (or near enough). I can only read Hakushon Da. Wikipedia helped with the rest. I don’t know enough about anime to say whether it’s a good likeness.

Sorry, didn’t see the second one until later, but that is Space Battleship Yamato.

Thanks for letting me know, I thought the Space Battleship Yamato characters seemed familar but I was’nt quite sure :)

Mee-oh-my, I remember that one. Here in my country it was translated more or less into[b:3nn2h007] "Bottled Bob"[/b:3nn2h007]. It tells the story of a kid who finds a mysterious bottle in his wardrobe with a genie inside… but instead of rubbing it, every time he sneezes, Bob comes out. All the wishes he makes somehow goes wrong, since Bob is really clumsy. There were other bottles with other members of Bob’s family, like a small girl who pops out every time the kid yawns.

Now I can’t remember if the sneeze was to summon the genie, or if the sneeze was necessary for the genie in order to fulfill the wish. All I can remember is that they were constantly using pepper, feathers or things like that.

Totally makes sense. I remember thinking "What a stupid name for a genie…" because hakusho in Japanese is the same as atchoo is for English. It’s the sound people make when they sneeze. So his name might be Sneeze Genie?

So now I know further the use of all that was being shove up the noses of our brave comedians!

Wow! I did not know that this anime crossed so many borders … ^_^
The theme song is rather infectious … so much so that this one crossed my lips as well!

Oh, I forgot about the rest of them. There was a big spokon (sports series) boom in the 80’s, and many of them were broadcasted in the early nineties. Several of them dealt with gymnastics, but I can’t remember the name of that one.

Then you have Space Battleship Yamato. Another space classic by Leiji Matsumoto. There was even a recent movie adaptation from 2010:

And finally you have Heidi, a legend in TV-anime. Even my grandma was a huge fan of this series xD. Future Studio Ghibli masterminds Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata were the creators. The neverending swing and the unbearable happiness everywhere were some of its trademarks. It’s perhaps one of the most international animes.

The gymnast one is from "Touch", a classic high school baseball manga by now-legendary mangaka Adachi Mitsuru, who 90% of his 40-years-long works are about high school, baseball, or both. The manga is so big and influential it has spawned a TV series (one of the highest rated anime series ever), 5 animated films, and a live action film.

:o

Never knew that a simple anime could spawn so much!
