紫SHIKIBU - Murasaki Shikibu (feat: Tanaka, Ameagari, etc)

Never have your favorite Yoshimoto comedians looked so…sissy…lol. I was reading around the Japanese wiki articles for the Lincoln cast and I stumbled upon this interesting little group called Murasaki Shikibu (named after the author of the famous Tales of Genji) and the phrase "lol"…just about sums it up for this group. The group members are: Sekai no Nabeatsu, Miyasako and Hotohara from Ameagari, Gori from Garage Sale, our beloved Tanaka from Cocorico, and Yamashita Shigenori from Jyarizumu (they all have cute nicknames they go by when performing). They perform this fairly catchy pop songs trying to be super cute and happy (kinda making fun of similar pop idols and groups) [b:3bz8wu28][u:3bz8wu28]while dressed up in tight shorts and shirts, and on stilts[/u:3bz8wu28][/b:3bz8wu28]. The two songs that I like the most from them are LOVEなんだよ (Love Nan da yo - It’s love baby) and イヲピにかえて (Iwopi ni kaete - not sure how to translate that). From what I can gather, the Love nan da yo song seems to make fun of typical lovey super pop songs and features Nabeatsu as the lead singer. The iwopi song tries to be cute in that every time a word as the "i" (read as ee) prounounciation in a word, they change it to "pi" and features Miyasako as the lead singer. I find that the iwopi song is reminiscent of Yunna’s Houki Boshi. From the time of their creation…they seem to have at least a bit of a following since the Love nan da yo song has a lot of amateurs trying to perform the same video for weddings and stuff.

They formed in December of 2008 and released CDs in Feb and June of 2009. According to wikipedia, they’re still active…but they haven’t released anything since 2009.

Thanks nice find. Funny as hell

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but I need to thank you for providing me with so much entertainment. A friend I got into GnT kept saying Tanaka looks like he used to be in a boy band (it’s the hair) so I eventually linked this to him to see his reaction.
The next day he told me ‘Love nan da yo’ got so stuck in his head he had to put on his MP3 player :D

It [i:2ff3327c]is[/i:2ff3327c] pretty catchy…
