I havent played this game in a long time, since before I even heard about Downtown, Batsu Games, etc. This week I was marathoning the Mother/Earthbound series and got to the last game. Well, I was shocked to see, two characters that look and act like our boys. Check it out and you be the judge.

Seems like a bit of a stretch
They are certainly comedians. Just not sure if its downtown. It could be another manzai kombi or just Characters the developers added for some humor in the game. Well it could be another kombi like TKO etc. Since there are lots of comedians with shaved heads nowadays.
I dunno - they’re named "Bud" and "Lou" after the arguably two most influential comedians in american history (Abbott and Costello for you youngins) - and one could argue that Downtown fits that role for Japan.
Plus, early in the duo’s performances Hamada was often wearing similar hats. Thing is if it was a bop to the head instead of a punch to the arm it’d be irrefutable.
It’s all questionable (makes sense - legally the reference couldn’t be too close) but I have to say if it’s not supposed to be Downtown they got their Manzai style pretty down pat. Reverse Merman? Nah, Matsumoto wouldn’t do something like that ever coughSanrancough
