Hello to everyone of the Gaki universe :D

As a fan of Japanese music I decided to make this topic all about music of Japan!
I thought it would be interesting to know what kinda Japanese music others listen to…what are your favourite bands & musicians?
It could be anything such as: J-Rock, J-Pop, Visual Kei, Shibuya-kei, Taiko, Anime music, Vocaloid, etc etc
also it doesn’t necessary have to be New bands & musicians…it could be old Japanese music…anything that takes your interests, it doesn’t even have to be a band or musician, it could be a certain song that you’ve taken a liking to, please feel free to share with us, you can also have discussions on this subject in this topic :)

^^ I know this already, your talking about the tribute album to DMC featuring other bands! I’m actually talking about DMC as the fictional band from the Anime & live-action movie, I know they are not a real band but the music rocksss!! :D that’s why I said this topic could even be for Anime music as well :)

I like Japanese punk and rock. Specifically bands like the Ulfuls, Blue Hearts, Tomoyasu Hotei, Carol, and Yokohama Ginbae.

Yeah anyway, I’ll just put my top 5 Japanese artists and my favorite song below to make it simple!

  1. UVERworld - it’s impossible for me to single out one of their songs so I’ll state my favorite few. —> KINJITO, Chance, Kimi no Suki na Uta and Ukiyo Crossing

I’ve had a lot of fleeting loves in Japanese music, but there are a few solid ones:
[b:avllvyrn]BUCK-TICK[/b:avllvyrn], Atsushi Sakurai just sounds so good. His solo album features collaboration with J.G.Thirlwell and Raymond Watts to mention a couple, awesome.
[b:avllvyrn]MUCC[/b:avllvyrn], a bit like Korn, but actually good.
[b:avllvyrn]Sigh[/b:avllvyrn], this is pretty much the closest to my standard fare that Japanese music can get (that I’ve found).
[b:avllvyrn]Inugami Circus-dan[/b:avllvyrn], I can’t quite explain why I like these guys but I just really enjoy their sound.
[b:avllvyrn]Suilen (睡蓮)[/b:avllvyrn], I’m tentatively letting this in to the top.
[b:avllvyrn]Malice Mizer[/b:avllvyrn], yes, while I like most of the successive Japanese Gothic Visual Metal bands that came after them and out of them, I’ll only add Malice Mizer to this list.

This by no means is an exhaustive list of all Japanese bands I appreciate, just the ones that have something special for me.
