Watch Gaki No Tsukai live (Another option)

Hi everyone! :)

I want to share with all of you what software I use to watch Japanese TV (Tv Tokyo, TBS, Nippon TV, etc.). It’s called ‘‘Niji Show’’, so let’s proceed to the tutorial:

1.-Enter to [url:xc2bdu2s]http://www.myniji.tv/[/url:xc2bdu2s]
[img:xc2bdu2s]http://oi43.tinypic.com/280sah1.jpg[/img:xc2bdu2s]

2.-Download the .exe file and install it

3.-Once installed, you’ll see the software (For some reason, I keep seeing squares instead of the japanese letters)
[img:xc2bdu2s]http://oi40.tinypic.com/24lr587.jpg[/img:xc2bdu2s]

This is the list of the channels you can see with this program. They are in the right order so you don’t get confused

[b:xc2bdu2s][color=#800000:xc2bdu2s]UPDATE 2015.02.02: The channel order has changed with the new update.[/color:xc2bdu2s][/b:xc2bdu2s]

[code:xc2bdu2s]テレビ東京 = TV Tokyo
NHK総合 = NHK General TV (NHK-G)
日本テレビ= NTV (Nippon Television)
NHK教育 = NHK Educational TV (NHK-E)
TBS = Tokyo Broadcasting System
フジテレビ= Fuji TV
テレビ朝日 = TV Asahi
テレビ大阪 = TV Osaka
読売テレビ= Yomiuri TV
J Sports 1
関西テレビ= Kansai TV
[/code:xc2bdu2s]

4.-You need to create an account in order to use this. Double click on a channel or on the upper right corner black sqaure to be greeted with this window, this is to log in or to create the account. Press click on the orange highlighted link (Like in the image)
[img:xc2bdu2s]http://oi40.tinypic.com/2wrnldt.jpg[/img:xc2bdu2s]

5.-You will be redirected to this website, here you can create your account to use Niji.
[img:xc2bdu2s]http://oi42.tinypic.com/2bofa1.jpg[/img:xc2bdu2s]

6.-After that, log in on Niji and there you go! You can watch GNT live (Audio quality is not very good, but hey, the image quality is very good actually)

I hope I helped everyone here! :D

We most of the time keep you all updated whenever NIJI is working, switched streams, updates, screws up, etc.

Hi,
Not sure if I’m the only one with problems…
It’s working, but my video screen is strange, like it got sliced and then spliced together…

The stream comming from Niji Show? That’s strange, I never heard of anything like that. Can you provide a screenshot, please?

Thanks! I had been looking for something like this just the other day :D

Here’s what it looks like…

No idea how to fix…

Do you know if you can enable live live translations for these? I would be happy to do it weekly…

Gaki no tsukai right now on the channel just before jsport1.

Unfortunately I believe software like this is similar to playing a livestream through VLC player etc. In that respect you are playing the video on your desktop alone.

But if you wanted to do it maybe you can:

  • Have the Niji window open and another window with Notepad open next to it on your computer where you’re typing lines.
  • Then get a software like OBS http://obsproject.com/ to capture the desktop.
  • Then there are sites like JTV that make it possible to take what OBS is capturing and broadcast it to multiple people in your very own channel where people can chat.
    Eventually JTV might catch on and take the channel down for copyright but you can always open a new channel I think.

Then after the episode is done you could save the Notepad text file with the translated lines in and give it to someone for timing/typesetting in Aegisub to a downloaded video of the episode at a later date. Then people can keep it as a quicksub. :)

I don’t know a lot about streaming so I can’t really help more than that though sorry. Maybe you could ask Kyon about JTV or ask on the forums there. OBS also seems to have some guides and a forum on their site. Also there are video tutorials on Youtube for OBS and other aspects of streaming.
If it helps, here’s a tutorial about streaming using OBS to Twitch (which is JTV’s spinoff site dedicated to streaming games, but I assume it’s similar for JTV):

Thank you again Mickstar for being so generous, I’m sure if you made a thread about trying to do something like this, people could help you figure it out when you come across problems, it’d be great to have any kind of translation for regular episodes.

That’s weird, it shoudn’t do that… Do you have VLC media player installed?

^Thanks, I’ll try installing VLC media player and see if it’ll work

Edit: It’s still the same…Maybe I’ll try uninstall and installing it again.

This is how you open Niji Show with VLC Media Player. This should do the trick.

You’re welcome! :)
You even got another benefit: See the streams on 16:9 ratio instead of the bad compressed 4:3 ratio ;)

Hosei on tv now on Yomiuri TV!

edit: oops, not him. just a look a like. :lol:

What a tease! ;)
He is on Yomiuri TV often though on some products show called "B-Tops! Gecchu". I’ve never actually seen an episode however.

When I have time maybe I should check out Niji TV and getting VLC player to record it… Though timezones is an issue, I might not be able to catch when it’s on >_< No time right now though. But thanks, I didn’t know the Kansai-only Yomiuri is an option. :)

I didn’t knew you can record streams using VLC media player! You can try Bandicam too, it records crystal quality video :)
I’ve used it to record some segments from TV Shows and Commercials (I like japanese TV advertisement lol)

I didn’t know either but out of curiosity I Googled it and saw some people talking about it, but I need to figure it all out lol…
My computer is from 2009 and when I’ve tried to record videos or games on my desktop using screen capture software it’s been sluggish and the result wasn’t very good. I can always try again though with Bandicam, thank you.

You can try it, it doesn’t slow your PC or anything. I have a 2013 PC with (sort of) good specs, and it records nicely :)

Oh nice. Yeah looks like some shopping thing from the images I’ve seen. Nothing exciting but some screenshots people took from Twitter looked kinda cute/funny. I’ll have to try and figure out when it’s on GMT-time. Seems the main show is every Monday 10:25am ~ 11:25am (there’s other stuff later in the week but dunno what that involves). I think that’s like 2:30am ~ 3:30am? I wish I had a computer I could leave running at night to screen record such things… This thing is noisy and keeps me up if I leave it on -___-

By the way, I’m kinda surprised people in the Kanto region can’t extend their TV package to include Kansai channels like Osaka (OTV), Kansai (KTV) and Yomiuri (YTV)? I was speaking to fans of his in the Kanto region and now that he lives in the Kansai region they can’t see most of his programs that get broadcast locally there.
