Hey, where do I start?

Hello everyone,

I’m new here and would like to check out this series(Downtown no Gaki no Tsukai ya Arahende!!).
But where do I start?

I’ve seen the "The Ultimate Listing of Gaki episodes (updated)" topic (viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2121)
and there I can see that the first episode is called "Big / doctor / quiz ".

But where do I start watching the show?
Do you guys stream/DL/order DVD’s?
If so, what threads/other sites are useful?

I want to watch it with english subs.

I hope someone can help me out!

Kind regards,
sihd26

Hi,

Welcome to the forum!

Unfortunately a lot of Gaki no Tsukai’s 1148+ episodes has not been subbed. So that narrows it down :(
The "MEGA Master List" thread has a lot of what has been subbed of the regular show, the Kiki or Silent Library series could be a nice start:

This section also has sub files for certain videos or batsu games:

If you’re totally new to the show though then the annual [url=http://www.gaki-no-tsukai.com/viewforum.php?f=9:3chbkd30]batsu game[/url:3chbkd30] specials are a very popular starting point. If you want to go in order of broadcast then here is a list: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downtown_n … atsu_Games
However the very very early ones are not subbed. You can find them partially subbed in the "History of the Batsu Games" special which you can find in the MEGA Master List thread. I think Yamasaki’s Concert batsu is on there too.
You can find the rest in the Batsu games section of the forum. Most have their own threads or this thread has re-uploaded some:

This torrent also has a lot of the earlier batsus:

There is a new subbing team doing this years batsu game, they’re up to part 7 of 10 (with part 8 coming out soon). You can find it on their site here: http://www.teamgaki.com/

For more of the regular show you can search the forum for threads with "subs" or "subbed" in the title etc. or when browsing in the video sections they have the orange "SUBBED" tag. When you’ve watched all the subbed stuff its worth giving some unsubbed stuff a shot such as the later episodes of the Oogiri Daigassen series:

If you browse around you’ll find other episodes that are funny visually like the recent "Surpriced Face" Grand Prix.

Enjoy!

The foreign fanbase is very much unofficial, so there is no chance of buying DVDs with English subtitles. Watching the main series can be pretty hard because a large majority of the episodes haven’t ever been subtitled by fans and most likely never will.

Easiest way of watching it would in my opinion be http://crazyontv.com/ since they reupload most of the stuff that gets subbed and nicely categorize it in the sidebar.
I started by watching the [b:8oufgu47]Kiki, Absolutely Tasty, and Downtown Talk[/b:8oufgu47] subseries (found from aforementioned site). They are pretty short, but still very funny and you can easily get to now each cast member and their personality.

After that you could go with their most popular series, Batsu Games (ie. punishment games). These should be viewed in chronological order or you might miss many running gags.
I’d recommend watching the following batsu games, in following order:
24 Hour Tag
Haunted Hotel
No-Reaction Pie Hell
No-Laughing Hot Spring Inn
No-Laughing Yugawara
No-Laughing High School
No-Laughing Police
No-Laughing Hospital
No-Laughing Newspaper Agency
No-Laughing Hotel
No-Laughing Spy
No-Laughing Airport
No-Laughing Enthusiastic Teachers (subs are still incomplete)

After or in between these, you could watch all kinds of episodes/segments that don’t belong to any particular subseries (the "Random Gaki Videos" category on crazyontv.com).

But most important,
