Downtown game on the Famicom/NES!?

Found this randomly while on eBay:

Never seen this before - a four player side-scroller featuring Hamada and Matsumoto! Very appropriate after last week’s Famicom episode.

thats not downtown I forget their names but that game its like river city ransom it has nothing to do with matsumoto and hamada at all

That’s right. River City Ransom is the localization of Downtown Nekketsu Monogatari, one of the many, many games in the Kunio-kun series. The first games were mostly about fighting delinquents, but later they ventured into dodgeball, soccer, "period drama" and even Field Day (Undoukai).

Here’s another thing that doesn’t have anything with the legendary kombi despite the title.
