I don't think I can really explain what Yoshimotozaka46 is because I just found tweets about it last night and I don't know much about female idol groups, but I BELIEVE (please correct me if I am WRONG), Sony and Aki-P who produces the Sakamichi groups Nogizaka and Keyzaka idol girl groups is putting together an idol group consisting of talent from Yoshimoto's agency. All 6000 talents are encouraged to apply, whether they are comedians, singers, etc. There is no age limit.

Endo's name is there among the other 700 or so people who made the cut. In addition, Yoshimotozaka46 also will have their own TV show titled "Yoshimotozaka ga Ureru Made no zen Kiroku" that will broadcasted by TV Tokyo and TV Osaka. source

I've been RTing whatever English news I can find. I can't find one true source but all the comments regarding the matter have been more or less consistent.

"I do not know if Yoshimotozaka can really exists like Nogizaka and Keyakizaka, but probably there are also slopes in Yoshimoto, just like the popularity uphill, downhill, and so on. Therefore, I would like to produce this. Yoshimotozaka 46"
By AkiP" source

"Apparently yoshimotozaka would collab with nogizaka and keyakizaka on their debut." source

one of many sources (JPN) and a clearer view of the full list
AramaJapan ENG article

So far I've seen a lot of hate tweets, saying stay away from our idol groups, etc. But there's a handful few that are saying, "Hamada Bamyu Bamyu can happen, so can this. Fujiwara as center!!"

There is a thread up on Stage48.net for discussion as well!

Of course the reason I found out about this was because I was looking up Hizashin.. Both of Fruit Punch made the list too so I did whatever I could to find out more.
Anything with 48 or 46 is shit and full of cancer.
This is probably just a one off thing anyway. Release one single song and that's it.

I'd also like to take this time to share what conjyak shared on reddit. "Music" and idols is not a new territory to comedians.

conjyak wrote:
Additionally, there are precedents of comedians singing/dancing or doing the "center" position with idol groups. Examples:

Pussumua's series of comedians trying to learn idol dances

Fujimori (of Oriental Radio) with AKB

Uchimura (of Ucchan Nanchan) with Keyakizaka46 (on this year's Kohaku)

Himura (of Bananaman) with Nogizaka46

Ito Asako and Yokosawa Natsuko with Keyakizaka46

Not to mention Oriental Radio does their gig as RADIOFISH (We've seen Perfect Human a few times on AmeTalk) and on AmeTalk's "Oriental Radio same class geinin" Trendy Angel's Saito had said they backdanced for Oriental Radio.
Episode 1

So far it's going pretty much over what's shown in news/youtube Maidigi TV. Nothing new I haven't seen yet sans a few short interviews with some Yoshimoto talents. Interesting they have talents overseas too.
Episode 2

https://www.bilibili.com/video/av219351 ... 2999944688

This one's interesting. They ask Nogizaka and Keyzaka members what they think about Yoshimotozaka (they think it'll be interesting) and are asked who they'd like to see make it. They also interview some familiar comedians asking what they think about it, which I thought was nice to hear how they see it as an opportunity. The staff get yelled at when they try to ask some super senior comedians if they'd try to audition. Miyasako too just retorts with, "Are you stupid?" when asked, ahah.

Hannya next week..! So probably more interviews. Now I'm impatient.. I hope they'll show how they carry out auditions eventually too.
Episode 3

https://www.bilibili.com/video/av222387 ... 8730590202

This one is funny. They show some applications (they discuss how Panther's Ogata's is quite a serious application..) and talk to some of Yoshimoto's - those who really want to be part of it and I think they try to convince more to apply. They spend some time interviewing Hannya who used to be REALLY popular back in the day, second to Arashi or so Kanada says.
Could someone please explain? What is this like an idol group or something? Did endo's kid win an entry into a group?

It's an idol group they're trying to make consisting of Yoshimoto's talents. It's not formed yet, they're still doing auditions. This show is kind of taking a "documentary style" and following these talents who are trying to apply. Endo hasn't appeared yet, but Miyasako (who turned down the offer) and some veterans have appeared. Shoji Murakami applied, if that's of interest, but we haven't seen him yet.

So it's an idol group of comidians ?
Like the one(I don't remember the name) where the group performed in underpants and accompanied their performances with comedy sketches?
omg LOL in a sense, I guess! Not much is really known about it either.. even Higashino and other guys (like Miyasakoi) in the show I'm sharing links to are skeptical. This is like a behind the scenes thing, so until it "happens" this is all we got.

Episode 4: http://www.bilibili.com/video/av2254050 ... 5863417637

From Stage46 I discovered an ENGLISH podcast with ENGLISH-speaking Japanese comedians. One is from Yoshimoto, one is from Maseki, and I missed where the last guy is from but it's nice to hear them talk about their companies in ENGLISH!! Episode 1 introduces the three but Episode 3 is actually about Yoshimotozaka46, if you wanted to hear from one of the candidates' perspective. It sounds like a real proper audition.

Lastly, an interesting note from Downtown DXDX 2018.04.19, at the end where Fujiwara picks his best pictures of Downtown, as he picked Hamada and Matsumoto's pictures he kept saying, (paraphrased) "wow they could be the center of Yoshimotozaka46. Won't they audition?"
Yoshimotozaka46 Twitter account posted a list of the 173 people who passed the second audition.

Endo's one of them. I'm too lazy to read them all but if enough people are interested I can list them out. I think hitting translate on the page works pretty well. I only read the ones I wanted to see LOL (Hannya, Hizashin.. saw Ganbareru-ya's Yoshiko and Murakami Shouji as well!)
Episode 5

They look at the reactions of ~800 people who passed the first audition (currently the number has dropped to 173). Next week looks like we get an insider look at how the second round is evaluated (song, dance, performance, charisma?)
Episode 6

We get to see how auditions work, seeing bigger acts like Murakami Shoji, Razor Ramon Hard Gay, Jungle Pocket, etc. No Endo yet, but it looks like he appears next week if you have been waiting to see him.

Voting now underway

Each candidate has submitted a 15s PR video trying to appeal for votes. You can view and vote here. Voting starts 5/9 and goes until 5/15, so one week. Apparently you can vote for as many people as you want (all 173 if you want!) once a day. I'll try to make a list of ppl that GnT forum people would probably know and maybe translations but voting is only a week anyway lmao BUT there are cute girls and actual ex-idols, male and female among the list so you are free to hop over to the link and find them if you want to guarantee some girls make it into the mix.
