After searching for some video I remember watching with a chimp called Pan-Kun and a dog, I came across the full episodes.
For those that don’t know who Pan-Kun:
"Pan-kun (パン君, born October 1, 2001) is a young chimpanzee in Japan often featured on the NTV television show Tensai! Shimura Dōbutsuen (天才！志村動物園, lit. Genius! Shimura Zoo) and the TBS program Dōbutsu Kisō Tengai! (どうぶつ奇想天外!, lit. Unbelievable Animals!). Most of the segments feature him and his bulldog friend, James, embarking on a variety of "human" tasks, like buying groceries, planting a rice paddy, or catching insects." (From Wikipedia)
I’m not sure how popular he is but if you haven’t heard of him I urge you to watch one episode! They are very interesting to see how this chimpanzee makes decisions and you can see him processing the world around him, but at the same time it’s very funny! I believe this show is aimed at the younger children but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t appeal to older people. I’m 18 and I found this really funny! It’s like little Hamada :3 !
By the way, it’s unsubbed but you don’t really need subs as you can see whats going on and there’s not much dialogue since the monkey and the dog have an inability to speak japanese. I also don’t know the name of the show, the google translation is "Dog orangutan Great Adventure" which is pretty much what it is, however I’m sure out our fluent Japanese members can fill us in…
