This was already discussed in the "GnT news" thread, but I think it deserves its own thread.
The second episode aired apparently last night.

Part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LXTajFpM_4

And here's the first episode links and basic information from the original posts.

Matsumoto has gotten his first local Kansai program in 21 years. Called 'Matsumoto Family's Rest Day', it stars Matsumoto as the mum, Miyasako as the dad, Tamura Kenji as their first son and one of the writers as their first daughter. It will air from now on on late night Thursdays from 1:39 to 2:14. Home page is here: http://www.asahi.co.jp/matsumoto/

How come the videos aren't deleted from YouTube? :o

They have the frame moved, so they can avoid the Youtube detection. It works for a while, until someone flags the video
It's weird that just moving the frame will not make YouTube to remove the video because of the Copyright issues.

I love Matsumoto and Miyasako, but I'm not sure about what I'm looking at.

Is it the kind of program where they go some place and just walk around looking at things and making comments? Why don't they just go as themselves? They wear the family clothes and make up, but they talk normal and aren't "in character" (at least in the few "jumps" I made while looking at the video)

Probably coz they want make something different, so we can't exactly say "it's like Gobu gobu or the summer thing".

My Japanese is still extremely poor, but wasn't part of the deal with the second part of the second episode that they were on a "budget" which influenced what they could do? So maybe the idea for the program as a whole is that they're not fully immersed into their characters but still following a general plot premise, or something similar?
Frequently wrong, but never in doubt.
I think they reference their characters a little but not overly so, just for comic relief when apt. For example when Matsumoto had to go to the Men's toilets dressed as a woman  Of course I had no idea what he was saying but it seemed like they made some joke about it.
They have a budget of 10,000yen.
They decide to go out for shuumai, and then Tamura Kenji suggest taking the water taxi, which costs over 4000yen.
