oh yikes that last girl with her final two options LOL what.. a tough choice....

I don't count OK for any girl that is a tough choice.
Thanks for posting this series! It's my favorite London Hearts corner! It's been a while so I can't watch to rewatch it!

I believe this was Komiya's first London Hearts appearance. He didn't really make much of an impression on me, but even then he seems to have participated more than most first-timers. After this, I think he disappeared for a bit, but has become pretty popular as of late. He's certainly funnier these days and seems to have his own character figured out and niche to fill.

Kuro-chan seems like such a nice guy. He didn't get picked, but won in the end, because he was hilarious.

I was wondering if Komiya was building his character to be kinda scary, the way he kinda looks up over his glasses. I think he still sometimes does that. I feel a lot of these LOVEMAGEDDON, or maybe 'cause I'm starting with the older ones as Ernie is sharing them focus/spend more time on guys like Zakiyama/Takeyama/Tsukacchan/Iwao, probably because they have more hits or talk more? They skipped over Kojima so fast, like BAM he got a match.

idk for me, Kuro-chan kind of frets too much it's tiring. Maybe it's his character but he just don't seem to stand out to me, even with the hidden beard. I mean like, Kuro-chan did talk a lot about gyaru-gyaru that it was annoying so I kinda agree with the girl XDa

Because they all pick who they want to pair with in secret, the director or whoever decides who to showcase and test for a match, have control over who gets to do most of the talking. If the host never calls your name you don't have much of a shot of getting much camera time, from what I've seen. They seem to pick people depending on who they selected and if that person selected someone else, so they can build the dramatic tension, but I bet seniority also plays a role as well. As far as I have been watching these kinds of variety shows it seems like newcomers have a lot of pressure not to interrupt more seasoned comedians. Seems like a part of Japan's senpai/kohai culture.

I can definitely see how someone could have a negative response to Kuro-chan. Humor is always really selective. But, I've just seen him on a few shows and he seems like such a nice person I can't help but like him. Also about him going on about liking "gals" it seems common for variety shows to try and get a running gag going, so it kind of felt natural to me. If you notice though, he wasn't pushing to continue the joke himself at the start, the hosts led him to it, by bringing it up after he picked someone else. I see senior comedians/hosts leading juniors around like that a lot, and all they can really do is try to respond somehow and roll with it. It's got to be crazy on some of these shows having so many comedians together all in a way competing with and working together to be funny. Did you notice that Kuro-chan's arm was trembling like crazy at the end from him having to cover his goatee? haha Poor guy. :D

I'm aware they pick before the game starts. My impression was that before every round everyone has a chance to pick again, but yeah you're right about how the main seniors would probably have the most hits and thus have a big chance to talk due to most people being familiar with them.

omg no I don't have a negative opinion about Kuro-chan! LOL I just meant for the girls on the other side, many of them might not be familiar with all the other comedic characters and so I sympathize with how they might feel at a first glance for any of the guys. I like Komiya but for that last girl to have to choose between Komiya or Kuro-chan after really wanting Ryo-chan, that would be kind of scary for any girl seeing them for the first time! I felt she kind of regretted it when she and Komiya were going to hold hands  Now that you mention it it was the hosts who kept pushing him with hiding facial hair and asking things like "what about 'gals'"? I felt bad for Kuro-chan really 'cause they kept making him hide his beard and going "wow cool, handsome!" to keep it going. I did see at the end he looked tired of it but he pressed on like a trooper. But no, I can't dislike any comedian really because they are all trying hard. I agree with you that Kuro-chan does seem like a nice guy. After all, he lets Wednesday Downtown follow him all the time.

Right, they pick each round. I just mean the staff can see who everyone picked and decides how they want to go through the results. I think they like to set people up to get rejected and then get them jealous by showing who got picked instead of them.

And yeah the last woman left usually is stuck with someone pretty unappealing. Did you see Lovemageddon 4? It's hilarious how Noro Kayo reacts to the two she has to choose from. It actually ends up being kind of a cute tundere back and forth. :D
