The theme is: [hide:3fnzjvwk]Detective Agency[/hide:3fnzjvwk]

:)

Can’t wait.

Yay awesome!
I wonder if they’ll have a noir feel at all with a classic detective office, femme fatales, etc. I’m sure the clients are gonna be quirky.
Some of my favourite games are the Tex Murphy series, who is a comical noir detective living in a post-apocalyptic world.
Oh and I do enjoy Columbo for his quirkiness and Matsumoto said in an interview once he loves Columbo.

EDIT: More pics:

A little funny tweet from Matsumoto pretty much alluding to the filming:

‘Will I have an ass this year?’

:D

Edit: whoops, didn’t see the tumblr link with the tweet already translated  . Oh well, looking forward to it.

Twitter users are saying this is in Gotemba, Shizuoka Prefecture.

Gotemba is where the main training building used for the Police and Earth Defense Force batsu games are located. It’s a pretty good guess they’re using that place again this year.

As it’s about 2:30am in Japan as I post this, they’re probably just wrapping things up now. They’ve probably finished their don’t get scared segment and waiting for Fujiwara to let them go home, but not before Suga gets in one last laugh.

or they are in hospital waiting for Hosei to wake up after chono ultime slap. :smoke:

As i said on Facebook.

Detective agency? Yutaro will drink to that!

Also cant wait.
I’m curious if they are going to invent some new jokes? Or just go width usual routine.

My gut instinct is that there’s not going to be a big change in the actual format BUT there will be super big surprises this year!

They have kinda double backed on to the batsu games now…

Teacher/Students
Police/Prisoners

now

Detectives/Spies

Guess next year they may go for patients.

Lets hope its with Chono slapping someone else, the double slap before was unexpected but now used.

How good will it be that he does his talking part and then does his tests but this time clears Hosei then just pulls out either Tanaka or Endo to get slapped.

True, someone also said this might bear similarities to Newspaper Agency due to the investigative aspect. However spies and reporters go looking for incidents whilst detectives have the incidents come to them in the form of being approached by clients, that might give them a platform for a lot of weird people coming in and out with unusual cases. Of course they don’t always follow the theme sadly, but it would be nice if they have to do some sleuthing. Hmm, actually I wonder if they’ll do that trick again with the numbered drawers in the break room with the pretense of following clues.

Yayy nice. I thought they might not do one this year but we are lucky :)

I hope they’ll skipped the bus part…the most boring part IMO :(
Can’t wait for more news! -

I don’t think they will do a thing like deleting parts of the show where appear many other celebrities.

I have a question regarding Matsumoto.

Does he is tired of doing Batsu Game and Gaki no Tsukai ?
And also for me i think he changed a lot these past few years. it’s look like he’s asking himself what he is doing here now that he is a famous movie director like Kitano.
It is almost embarrassing at times when you see him doing an exaggerated reaction and make faces as if the public of GnT had 3 yo.

Well, if you mean the bits where he grumbles at the end each year, that’s kind of become a running gag so I wouldn’t take those too seriously. I think Matsumoto has a very caustic wit in general and it’s funny when he makes sharp dissenting remarks about stuff.

As for in general, yeah he probably is more enthusiastic about his film work now:

But he puts his all into whatever he does, so I wouldn’t say he’s just phoning it in during the batsus. The stuff he finds funny matches what he found funny in previous years or during the regular episodes over the years (like Housei speaking informally to him etc.). Also those faces of his have always been pretty comical.

I doubt he will drop doing Gaki or the batsu on that basis, for a number of years there have been gossip articles about him going on hiatus from Gaki, but they all turned out to be false when each of those years went by with him appearing regularly without any gap.

On a somewhat related note, oddly some pretty young kids watch the New Years specials since it’s become a ‘family’ tradition to sit and watch it for some. Housei said when he lived near a school once the kids would do ding-dong-ditch on his house shouting "Yamazaki out!" over the intercom.

Oh okay, i was a bit uncertain about the future of the show because of that, since i don’t watch their regular show i don’t see him very often. i heard somewhere ( i don’t know if it’s false or not ) that young adults or teenagers doesn’t really like the show and downtown .

Opinion runs both hot and cold for sure, and online comments can get scathing, probably true of anything well-known though. On Yahoo Japan’s TV section it seems like almost every show has a severe split in opinion. Here’s Gaki’s page, 58% give 5 stars and 25% give 1star…

The Earth Defence batsu saw their highest ratings up to that date though and made the news in Japan.

Kind of related from the last episode of Gaki (though it’s not about the Gaki guys themselves):

[quote="Vatican":2nzdti4v]As a sidenote, I notice that Kahala mentions reading 2chan and her getting up in the morning to read it and then going to sleep feeling depressed. Matsumoto then jokingly says that she should go read 4chan, but I do wonder just how many celebrities do read things like 2chan; given its anonymous nature, anyone could go read anything on 2chan without outing themselves :^) .[/quote:2nzdti4v]
