Since Ernie has announced that he will stop providing his raws (thank you for your service sir, you are a legend), I thought it would be nice if we kept sharing “public sources” (torrents, links to bilibili or whatnot you happen to find on the net) of the shows featuring Downtown and of other Japanese variety shows in the Other Japanese comedy section of this forum.
This is a tentative first post, let me know what you think.

I don’t have access to Japanese tv myself, all I can do is post what I manage to find publicly available on the net.
For streaming (and possibly download if using helper apps like yt-dlp), I recommend Miomio over Bilibili because it has been faster for me in recent times:
The miomio site changes URLs from time to time, currently it’s miomio.guru - if it is nuked from the web, it usually turns up quickly again under a different TLD. Google will help you in that case.

Naturally Gaki and Suiyoubi are big enough that they shouldn’t ever be impossible to find in watchable quality, but feeling pretty concerned about trying to find the other shows I came to watch every week, like 相席食堂、ナイトスクープ、ゲームセンターCX、and イッテQ! with comparable quality and reliability … Man, it’s really got me feeling 寂しい, yknow? Lord knows the legend has earned it though. Was at it for how many years? 8? Total hero.
Have you tried tver.jp? Player is locked to Japan but proxying edge.api.brightcove.com and playback.api.streaks.jp with japan proxy solves the problem. Video stream itself is not geo-locked so proxy’s speed does not matter.
Other way is just search https://tver.jp/search/水曜日のダウンタウン copy link and download it with yt-dlp.
Or even watch it directly in a player like mpv or mpc-hc if you know how to make them work with yt-dlp.
Unfortunately yt-dlp does not support https://tver.jp/live/tbs but it is possible to manually take link to manifest.m3u8 and download with yt-dlp using these arguments --downloader ffmpeg --hls-use-mpegts -o path_and_or_name_to_video_file.mp4 (of course you need to download and put ffmpeg in same folder with yt-dlp)
